Firm gets a bad reputation, usually from people who've slept on something genuinely hard. There's a difference: hard means nothing between you and the support — pressure builds at the shoulder and hip. Firm means the surface gives just enough to relieve pressure, then stops. You stay on top of the mattress, and your spine keeps its line all night.
The RUP-2602 is the second kind — around 7 out of 10, clearly supportive, with a thin but real comfort layer doing genuine pressure relief.
The comfort layer is restrained on purpose. At 2.5 cm comfort foam + 1.5 cm gel memory foam + 3 cm high-resilience foam, there's real cushioning — but not so much that you lose contact with the springs. You settle a few centimetres, then the coils take over. That "stops rather than keeps going" moment is exactly what firm sleepers want.
The springs do the work. A full set of 2.0 mm individually pocketed coils (approx. 14 gauge) sits below. Each spring is wrapped in its own fabric pocket and moves independently, so the mattress responds point by point — the coils under your hips compress appropriately, the ones under your calves barely move. The surface stays level instead of hollowing out, and movement doesn't travel across the bed.
The edges hold. Three rows of heavier 2.2 mm coils (approx. 13 gauge) run around all four sides. Sitting on the edge feels solid, the full width is usable, and the bed resists the outward spread that develops over years.

Back and stomach sleepers · heavier sleepers · couples · anyone who's felt "stuck" in deep memory foam.
If you're a side sleeper under about 130 lb (60 kg), or you like sinking into a bed, you'll probably prefer a medium-soft model.
No flipping, ever — just rotate it 180° every 3–6 months for the first couple of years.
Arrives compressed and roll-packed in a single reinforced carton. Unbox, lay it on the frame, cut the wrap, and let it expand: sleepable within hours, full height in 24–72 hours. A faint new-mattress smell for a day or two is normal — ventilate and it clears.

How firm is "firm"? Around 7 out of 10 — the surface gives slightly, then stops. Supportive, not hard.
Is firm good for back pain? We can't make medical claims. What we can say is firm surfaces help keep the hips level, which is what back and stomach sleepers generally need. For a specific condition, consult a professional.
Will it feel too hard? There's a real comfort layer — 1.5 cm gel memory foam plus comfort foam and wadding — so you get pressure relief; it just stops sooner than a softer bed.
Do I need to flip it? No. Single-sided — just rotate head-to-foot every few months.
How long until it's ready? Sleepable within hours; full height in 24–72 hours.
